The Orbán Problem - Europe Takes On an Unpredicatable Autocrat

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is considered Vladimir Putin's last friend among European leaders. He has completely isolated himself in the EU. Now, Brussels wants to cut billions in subsidies to Budapest, but it's also possible he could strike back.

The prime minister chose a historic occasion to express his mistrust of his Western allies as the war in Ukraine rages on. Neither the United States, nor the European Union are "thinking with a Hungarian head and feel with a Hungarian heart," Viktor Orbán said. Russia, he said, looks at its interests, and Ukraine does the same. Hungary must also do so – because his country, Orbán said, "has nothing to win" in this war. As if that is what it were about.

In his speech given on March 15, the anniversary of the 1848 Hungarian Revolution, which was quelled with Russian support, Orbán effectively gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a gift. Hungary, whose security and economic well-being is guaranteed by NATO and the EU, pursues only its own interests, even if neighboring Ukraine is brutally invaded. "God above us all," were Orbán’s closing words. "Hungary above all else!"

With those words, Orbán alienated himself from the last allies he has left in Europe. Germany and the EU, meanwhile, are facing the wreckage of their policies toward Hungary. They largely stood by idly as Orbán established an autocracy in the middle of Europe. At the European level, the European People’s Party, which included Orbán’s Fidesz party alongside Germany’s conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and it’s Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), hesitated to kick his party out of the bloc in the European Parliament for years. The Hungarian leader then withdraw his party on his own last March. .....

from the story:

The situation is “extremely dangerous” for the EU, warns FDP politician Körner. He notes that the EU is engaged in the “geopolitical battle of democracies against autocracies,” it is dealing with Putin, China’s head of state Xi Jinping and could possibly face another Donald Trump presidency in the U.S. in the future. “Orbán,” Körner says, “is the Trojan horse of Putin, Xi and Trump.”

I guess Orban misses the ‘good old days’ when the Soviet Union occupied Hungary.

Sad.

Orban is a realist. Something like 75% of his gas/oil requirements come from Russia and he has no other option to consider. It seems he is looking out for the well-being of his country. Winters are cold in Hungry.

Last week I predicted a color-revolution and soros-style “democratic coup” against Orban within six months.

It seems it won’t even take that long.

Not going to happen.

Orban may lose some EU cash, but he’s got the Soros gang and the lefties handled in his own nation.

Notice that every non-lefty who wins a democratic election is an “autocrat.”

The Putin stuff is just the latest ruse to turn people on Orban.

He just won an election. He’s not going anywhere.

Unpredicatable Autocrat

Unpredicatable?

He must be quite the subject, as there is nothing after.

Orban is also not on board the New World Order train to hell. Soros is from Hungary so Orban knows the evil dirtbag.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Hungarian_parliamentary_election#International_responses

“Two days after the election, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced that the Commission would begin cutting funding to Hungary over rule-of-law concerns.[69] Hungarian government officials criticized the move as an attempt to “punish Hungarian voters.”

By ‘rule-of-law’ the EU means globo-homo, which the Hungarian people do not want.

I guess Orban misses the ‘good old days’ when the Soviet Union occupied Hungary.

I think he is afraid that the E.U. may become USSR-lite.

Is this author unaware of the fact that the USA elects its Presidents?

So does Hungary, but American Presidents are far from autocrats. At least Trump was. Dem Presidents get pretty close to defacto support from the judicial branch, control the massive bureaucratic state, and only have to worry about a Republican congress to limit their authority. Republican Presidents have to fight the judiciary, the bureaucracy and the congress, even when there is a Rep majority. And they are limited to two terms.

Orban has effectively taken over the entire government, and done what the left claimed Trump was trying to do.

Yep, the leftists always have to throw Trump in there. The US, EU, UK, are no longer even democracies. They FIX the elections to to get their retarded WEF satanists in charge to usher in their evil Gross Reset.
