“It’s common for those with dementia or alzheimers to lose the normal filter and just blurt out stuff swirling around in their head.”

My mother’s best friend had a father in law who was senile (that’s what it was called at the time), fairly young looking, rather handsome with a full head of gray hair. He seemed perfectly normal except for one tiny problem. If he saw a pretty girl, he would just reach out and grab a boob or something “worse”. My mom’s friend had to do some lots of explaining when she took him out.

I think it’s because the brain can’t multi-process as normal so when the thought pops into the head after seeing an old acquaintance like “Wow, have they gotten really fat”, your normal concurrent processing that kicks and says “Don’t say that out loud...” doesn’t kick in and prevent the mouth from operating.

“if he saw a pretty girl, he would just reach out and grab a boob or something “worse”. “

Bush 41 was known to have that problem at the very end.
