I recall learning that in High School WWII history. The Soviets would send in a wave of infantry. The first few lines of men had rifles. The next 30 lines had pitch forks and other tools they could use as weapons, and instructed to pick up the rifles as the men in front fell.
The last row of men also had rifles.

Yup, same evil disregard for their troops or human life here. Those wounded Russian soldiers were an inconvenience, and killing them solved that problem.
