That’s all true, but the Daily Mail is propaganda rag. Lately they’ve pushed story after story that reek of “wartime fiction.” If the Chechens are there as mercenaries for the Russians, does it make a lot of sense that they would be torturing and murdering the Russians? Sure, it’s possible, but with mercenaries like that, who needs enemies?
A big propaganda narrative is that the Russians are shooting their own forces in ‘incidents’ this fits in with that narrative.
I'd be more surprised if they didn't.
Remember what happened a few years ago with the Russians and Chechens?
It said they were killing Russian soldiers and torturing and killing civilians.
I’m guessing with the soldiers it was more like “Sorry comrade, we can’t spend time trying to make you better - we have a war to fight!”
Or children to torture and kill.
