It doesn't always work that way. The cop involved in Saint George Floyd incident will die in prison. Yes,he may well deserve to spend some time in jail...but not 40 years.

Look at all the January 6 political prisoners getting convicted in DC.
Modern juries are often stupid and irrational and I am no longer certain that long ago juries did any better.
The courts are a crap shoot.
