Israeli officials are set to discuss expanding aid to Ukraine, including supplies of defensive military equipment so far withheld by Jerusalem, according to a report Tuesday.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, Israel has rejected requests from Kyiv and the West for military equipment such as anti-missile batteries, and only recently agreed to send helmets and flak jackets to civilian rescue and medical forces, part of a policy meant to preserve ties with Russia. Instead it has sent some 100 tons of humanitarian aid and set up a field hospital in western Ukraine for six weeks.
However, Israeli officials are now expected to support sending Ukraine military aid, albeit at symbolic levels, and still with hopes of keeping its relationship with Russia intact, Haaretz reported Tuesday, citing officials with knowledge of the matter.
According to a diplomatic official, Israel will not consider sending offensive arms or advanced defensive technology, such as the Iron Dome anti-missile system, but will attempt to find equipment that can be donated without sparking a crisis with Moscow.
“There’s still no plan to provide offensive weaponry, but only defensive arms,” the source was quoted as saying.

The world is upside down when Israel thinks about providing arms to Nazi supporters.

Nobody is more critical of Azov than I. But to use one reserve military unit as a basis for judging an entire country in its struggle against a Russian aggressor is simple-minded, IMHO. You would be able to find fault within any country, using your standard.
Azov is a battalion(1,000 to 2,000) in the army. Politicly, they are weak. Zelensky has his own party that completely controls Ukraine. The only alliance with Azov is in defending Ukraine from Putin's invasion.
Or more probable the Israeli Government statement that Ukrainian regime is not nazi.
I think some of their neighbors say things that are worse.

Imagine you are on an overcrowded lifeboat and there’s suddenly a fight at one end. Everyone in the lifeboat is suddenly at risk of death.
While Israel is relatively safe, let’s say in this example they are at the far end of the lifeboat, the fight or the results of the fight are likely to get out of control and possibly turn over the whole thing.
The last time there was any major upset in the Middle East, our lifeboat, was 2010. The Russians had first floods and then fires and locusts. The Russians embargoed all food shipments. The Russians are the world’s number one supplier by volume and their top customer is the Middle East. The prices in the Middle East tripled and this caused starvation and that caused what we call “The Arab Spring.” That’s right. It wasn’t about political freedom. That was a thing created by the media. These were food riots. This caused a huge upset and I’m sure Israel worked hard behind the scenes to limit damage. What the Ukraine war threatens is probably literally a hundred times worse.
Israel is like the cop who comes to the domestic quarrel. The cop doesn’t care who started it, who’s right, or “justice.” The cop just wants the fighting to stop. Israel is involved because they are in the lifeboat and whatever happens at the far end will eventually, in greater or lesser amounts, affect them. They’d like it to be as minimal an effect as possible. If that means Russia wins...they don’t care.
Israel had the last 30 years too good. 1980s are calling:) Russia can send “defensive” weapons to Palis as well.
There are going to be thousands of Javelins, Stingers and other weapons captured by Russians, or sold by corrupt Ukraine officials on to the black market. NATO has already declared they will flood the area with weapons. They don't care where these weapons end up.
Its not in Israel's interest to piss-off the only other major power that can possibly keep them from flowing into the mid-east.

And it is not just Azov. There are several militias with the same thinking created to get the Maidan guys out of town. Then like the original SS, they wield outsized influence over the regular armed forces.
And then there is the fact that when Zelinsky ordered the heavy artillery and most forces removed from Donbass, Azov, on video, told him they would instead bring in 10,000 for every thousand he removed. They also put up a video saying if he implemented Minsk 2 they would hang him from a tree on
Kreschatik street.
So it isn’t just one little wonky nazi militia over in the corner that isn’t a big deal. Also you are glossing over that one of the big reasons for the war was Azov’s 8 year artillery war against the Donbass people for the crime of opting out of the coup.
