CHICAGO -- At least 32 people have been shot, eight fatally, in weekend violence across Chicago, police said.
A man was shot to death while trying to rob two people Saturday afternoon in Calumet Heights on the South Side, police said. Two men had been walking back to their car from a store about 3:45 p.m. in the 1500-block of East 95th Street when they began talking with the robber, identified as Xavier Johnson, police said. The pair entered their Volkswagen SUV and Johnson got into the backseat, struck one of them with a handgun and demanded their belongings, police said. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Johnson, striking him in the forehead, left leg and chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
About 30 minutes later, Kier Carmichael-Smith was in the parking lot in the 1300-block of East 47th Street when a light-colored car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said. The 27-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds and fled into a restaurant, police said. He was transported to the University of Chicago and pronounced dead, police said.
Two women were shot - one fatally - during an argument with a man early Saturday morning on the Near North Side. The women, 31 and 26, were shot about 1 a.m. on the sidewalk in the 300 block of North State Street, police said.
Last weekend, eight people were killed and 42 people were shot in gun violence incidents across the city.

Well... take that one off the weekend stats. Those don’t qualify as human.
25% ratio.
They suck…
“...The women, 31 and 26, were shot about 1 a.m. on the sidewalk”
Pro-tip: Don’t be on a sidewalk downtown Chicago at 1am.
At least it’s above The Mendoza Line.
That is the line exactly, right?

I’m sure the anti-gun lobby will include this shooting death, along with all the other shooting deaths of miscreants shot in the act of miscreanting, as further reason to strip citizens of tools and defensive rights - even though cases such as this actually estabish the exact opposite, namely the need for citizens to have access to useful tools and to have the right to use them in such situations.
(Note also that the anti-gun medical community makes zero distinction between justifiable homicide and murder when discussing “gun violence”, and also seeks to reduce the number of incidents such as this one, by reducing access to tools and by eliminating defensive rights.)
Yeah those are some pretty lousy scores--maybe they should give up their 9s and go with the shotgun--it's got Joe Biden's endorsement as the weapon of choice for those times you find yourself shooting blindly.
...and it wasn’t even a long weekend.
Sailer's law...
They’re warming up for the Memorial Day weekend and a long, hot summer.
And, they’ve got some catching up to do:
Final April Totals (vs 2021)
Shot & Killed: 50 (-4%)
Shot & Wounded: 205(-21%)
Total Shot: 255 (-18%)
Total Homicides: 54 (-5%)
And, again, the City of Chicago Deputy Mayor of Public Safety John O’Malley, demonstrates he is doing a bang-up job.
Freakazoid mayor.
LOL, I had to look that one up.
So did I, a few days ago!
It’s pretty damned accurate...
It’s .200.
