National guard on the border might work, but after the first illegal was shot, the outcry would be more intense than the "BP whipping immigrants" hoax.
BP agents have gone public denouncing the Mayorkas "leadership." Get rid of the deep state people in the BP. I think it makes sense to keep the good BP and ICE agents, whether or not the NG is there.
