Just one more example of the problem with collective bargaining units.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

With technology nowadays, it should be possible to homeschool via numerous methods. Group homeschooling in either person or online, or a hybrid, could be the way to go. No more homosexual, racist nonsense. No more pandering to the slowest child. Help the brightest excel and foster creativity. Rote memorization only goes so far.

The pandemic may have been one of the best things to happen to public schools - the ones in my area are down 30% - and aren’t coming back. Parents learned what their kids were learning instead of reading, writing and computing.

The good news is there are a lot of alternatives out there instead of the twisted public schools.

Some schools in my district are sitting with 1/2 the students and a full staff of teachers and administrators. This is not sustainable.

Talks of consolidation and closures are being met with a lot of resistance from parents but if history is any indicator, the district will close the schools - they are financially unsustainable.

Well, Oakland is a shithole town.
Dangerous areas abound in the “East Bay,” Proceed with caution!

I occasionally worked in Oakland, about twenty years back.

My favorite view of Oakland was in my rearview mirror.

(Of course, I can say the same thing for the whole East Bay, and in fact the entire Bay Area.)

Can you imagine the power

of enabling the potent “why ?” curiosity of kids

to answer any question they had with the entirety of global knowledge at the touch of a button in an instant ?

Kids could teach themselves the wisdom of our founders and the genius of a constitutional Republic

among other things.

They could learn of the destruction the ideas of progs have brought through the centuries around the world.

Easy job as a teacher. They do not have to teach reading and writing and history and math. They get the summer off and many holidays during the school year. They do not lose their job when the students graduate and they cannot read or write.
