A bipartisan group of senators has resumed efforts to revise the U.S. immigration system, following years of failed attempts to pass legislation on the politically divisive topic.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Richard J. Durbin of Illinois met with panel members Sens. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, on Thursday morning to discuss which immigration bills could garner 60 votes, the minimum needed to overcome a filibuster in the evenly divided Senate.
The senators said they discussed several topics, such as changes for migrant farmworkers critical to the U.S. economy and changes for foreign workers stuck in a yearslong green card backlog, as well as for their children who grew up on legal visas but “aged out” before their parents’ green cards became available.
It was the first in what will likely be a “series of ongoing meetings,” Tillis said.
The push comes less than a year after Democrats attempted to legalize millions of undocumented immigrants through a party-line reconciliation bill but were thwarted by internal divisions and a Senate advisor's rulings barring the inclusion of immigration provisions.

The Dems do not compromise, as a general rule.
They stay the course or become conveniantly two faced as needed.

In 10 years (or less), unless the tsunami of illegal aliens isn't stopped, Texas WILL be like California and many other states will be flooded with people who are largely illiterate in their own home country language.
This was reason #1 I voted for, and supported Trump. Illegal "immigration." He was the only one on the national stage to talk bluntly about it.
Had the "Republican" lead Congress not stepped in his way from the get go, a LOT more could have been accomplished vis a vis the border (and so much more).
Round 2 can NOT be allowed to play out the same way.
WHAT THE EFF DOES AN OPEN BORDER HAVE TO DO WITH A “BROKEN” IMMIGRATION SYSTEM?
The Deplorables want a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. Since that amnesty was granted already, a second amnesty is off the table. What remains is the enforcement the Democrats have disallowed since then.
The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 40-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.
Are they discussing how to finish the wall and deport all illegal aliens from the US?

They aren't entitled to anything from our country, they should be given nothing.
Without free food, free housing, free education, free medical, free dental, free legal and on and on and on...the overwhelming vast majority will SELF deport.
And that small percentage who doesn't, I would (begrudgingly) happily encourage taxpayer money be used to ship them back to whence they came!

this country can NOT afford to take in and care for the worlds' poor, illiterate and unemployable in our ever increasing high tech/automated society.
It's now not just about walling up the border and putting more guards and high tech along it...the tens of millions here in violation of our laws must not be allowed to stay and a moratorium on LEGAL immigration needs to be put in place.
Enough already with shooting ourselves in the foot.
We will keep getting amnesty attempts as long as we keep re-electing amnesty Senators.

Americans need to demand that the DC Swamp critters clue us in on their plan of what we are going to do when every idiot on the planet is living in the U.S. They must have a plan, right?
These people want to replace the basement furniture while water is still pouring in from several cracks in the foundation. These people should not even have a driver’s license, let alone be in positions to affect national policy and laws.
