Not really, although I have first-hand experience that these generic BRs were convenient to “transition” (LOL) to “all-gender” BRs.

In our case (which is more the exception), the BR was rather hidden and was a “family BR” or really, meant for severely handicapped people. The hidden made it hard for anyone to abuse the privilege and the BR itself is huge, with all the trimmings.
Many places have these same things, although usually not so hidden. “Family” BRs have been popular for some 15 years I guess. And it’s possible the intention was underhanded, to allow these “queer” (truly) people to do what they want.
I haven’t run into those yet, unless you mean a portapottie.
