If I recall correctly, Deutsch Bank suffered from a run of imprudent managers and reckless lending, with Donald Trump a prominent borrower. Add in the bank’s connections to Russian financial interests, the obvious conclusion for believers in the Trump-Russia fairytale was that Deutsch was acting as Russia’s alter-ego in lending to Trump. As always, the lack of coherent and credible proof did little to deter such belief.
