Putin launched its ‘special military operation’ against Ukraine on February 24, with the Russian president claiming his goal was to "demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine”. Since then, Moscow has claimed it had "generally accomplished" the aims of the invasion's first phase.

However, Russia has failed to take control of Kyiv, and has lost previously held towns to Ukrainian forces in the weeks since the ‘operation’ began.

Now, experts have said the prolonged conflict between Russia and the West-backed Ukraine is a warning to China about a potential conflict.

Zhou Chenming, a researcher from the Yuan Wang military science and technology think tank in Beijing, said: “It’s very difficult for Russia to totally defeat the thousands-strong Ukrainian military, especially when Ukraine is helped by lots of weapons from Western countries, which is the key reason why Kyiv has not been defeated easily.”

“The biggest lesson for Beijing is, we shall never [decide to] wage war lightly.”

I don’t believe that Russia waged war lightly, they just proved again they weren’t offensively capable from a logistical standpoint. They had 25,000,000 soldiers the last time they took ground in Europe.

Well there you go. The West stepping in heavily to help Ukraine has averted a near term invasion of Taiwan by the Chicoms.

Yep. Putards are going to be upset that China has taken note of the western response to naked aggression.

With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.

Russia seeks to demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine.

"Russia seeks to demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine."

One of six different excuses the Russians have given for their aggression. None of which are actually valid.

Yeah, the Putinistas like to forget his essay last summer in which he said Ukraine isn’t a real country at all and should just be part of Russia.

Putin wanting to gaze over Novarussiya before he dies is a far more plausible explanation.

Let’s not forget Russia has been talking about it since the early 1990s, and Putin starred this ball rolling on December 17th 2013 when the Ukrainian President attended a pow-wow in Moscow and left with a truckload of cash, a deal that put Ukraine’s finances in Putin’s hands, and orders to tear up the Free Trade Agreement that ALL of Ukraine including himself had been working on for 8 months. All of which were material violations of the Budapest Memorandum.

That was before Euromaidan, before Crimea, before the separatist movements in Donbass, and before the conflict with Azov.

It’s always been about Novarussiya. Everything else is misdirection.

Not any longer - Russia is slowly taking more and more bites of small towns along the eastern and southern fronts. Only the north is mostly unchanged.

“Russia seeks to demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine.”

Given that the center of the neo-Nazi movement is in Russia and the center-of-center is in the Russian military, this is amusing on many levels.

No, Russia wanted to steal Uke oil and gas reserves ever since they were discovered.

Biden is a doddering, corrupt, idiot who eliminated the USA as a viable source of oil and gas exports, so Putin thought he had a shot.

What the Chinese learned is they have to cut off Taiwan from resupply.

What Taiwan learned is it needs massive reserves of ammo, fuel, and food — enough to hold out alone for a year or more — and the ability to break a blockade.
