Raytheon just said they cannot make any more stinger missiles, all of them have been given to Ukraine and no more can be made because certain parts require rare minerals that are only found in Russia.

1. Defense One - a Lefty outfit, as evidenced by the personal and journalistic history of its senior editor.

2. It all says nothing about the U.S. stockpile of stingers nor that the U.S. is in need of replenishing them now, nor does it change any outlook on the Javelins that the west is also supplying to Ukraine.

3. Yes, it does point to the national security error, as far as U.S. military goods, of allowing “globalization” to take precedence over a domestically secure military industrial system.

4. But I don’t think it affects greatly or changes the current efforts to supply Ukraine’s defense forces.

As long as stupid americans and liberTARDians can continue to smoke dope, they’re happy/stupid/numb. Why do you think there’s such a push to legalize that crap?

This article is pretty good too. Looks like Putin won’t have to worry about Stingers for at least another year, because ‘redesigns’ are now necessary before more can be build...meaning they can’t build-to-print anymore.

The Sidewinders use the same tech, and are more likely to be used in an all-out war with China/russia. The insider info on the defense spending is very interesting, but it’s about how you’d expect. Dems=hard times in defense usually, and Reps=better for tech stuff

Even worse news here...likely 2024, so Putin has 2 years without having to worry about Stingers.

If you would do some actual research, you would find that this ongoing program design and development will be completed in 2023 and first article tests will be in 2024.

But I know that it fits your agenda to just believe some Twitter troll rather than actually do research that tells “The Rest of the Story”.

Bullsqueeze of the highest order. No way in hell we gave all our stingers to Ukraine, and no way in hell Raytheon doesn’t have the materials to build thousands more.

russia’s entire airforce would be wiped out in hours, what’s left of it, in a conventional war. MANPADS wouldn’t even factor into it, they’d mostly be sitting in hangers and knocked out.

So Chin, Reuters is now your bible? Are you KooKy?

Reuters wasn't my source at all. It was one of the two sources listed by the original poster, with the other one being some dude writing tweets out of his basement. And neither of them mentions at all anything about needing anything from Russia as the reason for the alleged shortage.

If you want to dismiss both of those sources, and therefore dismiss the post in its entirety, I'm 100% on board with that.

If they have not sold stinger missiles to the US military for 20 years, what is the US Military using as an equivalent weapon?
It would appear that The Stingers are still useful weapons.

I think some of those materials came from South Africa, which was also a problem at the time.

We had the world’s largest mine of rare earths until B. Clinton closed it (for the benefit of some foreign campaign crony, I think), making it a National Preserve.

I remember reading an article of how we lost one Abrams main battle tank. Some kind of fluke RPG hit causing metal to fly around & kill 3 tankmen.

But your point is still valid.

For those who refuse to believe the amount of military minerals we can only get from Russia at the moment:

You don't get away with lying that easily. Here's exactly what you said:

Raytheon just said they cannot make any more stinger missiles, all of them have been given to Ukraine and no more can be made because certain parts require rare minerals that are only found in Russia.

That's just a flat out lie. In neither of your sources did Raytheon say that it couldn't make any more Stingers because it needed rare earths only found in Russia. You just made that up. What Raytheon did say -- in the sources you provided, was that the Stingers being provided are an old technology that hadn't been built in 20 years, and that it would take 6-12 months to revise electronics to use things that are manufactured now.

The entire part about Russian rare earths being the source of the bottleneck was completely invented by you. You now posting something about rare earths generally has nothing to do with manufacturing Stingers.

You honestly believe that Raytheon would publicly admit their parts require Russian regional minerals?

There are plenty of those metals in other parts of the world, it’s just more environmentally damaging mine them so only the countries who don’t care about the environment mine them.

All those metals can be mined in other parts of the world if we had to.

Francis Fukuyama made it PERFECTLY CLEAR in his epic book “The End of History” that production of military hardware is no longer needed. So what’s the problem here?
