Covid-19 does not fly around on its own, it needs to be carried by a particle, the minimum size of which has been calculated to be 9.6 μm.
N95 masks stop 95% of particles that are 0.3 μm or larger. That’s the definition of N95. They will stop even higher percentages of larger particles. As I mentioned earlier, the quality of the mask matters, but even a cloth mask stops some of the particles, and something is better than nothing, since your likelihood of contracting *any* disease depends largely on the level of exposure and the load you’re carrying.
