Agreed. I bought solar panels and batteries last year and love them so much that I'm in the process of upgrading them and getting an EV. But that's not a solar vs. fossil fuels thing for me. It's a make-my-budget-as-I-head-into-retirement-depend-less-on-politicians-messing-up-energy-costs-and-supplies-because-I-supply-most-of-my-family's-energy-needs-myself kind of thing.
If I could drill and process my own natural gas, coal, and/or oil I would. They're much more efficient than solar or wind. But I can't do those -- I have to depend on federal and state regulated monopolies to get the goody out of fossil fuels. And the regulators are messing up our energy costs going that route.
But if I make myself about 90% energy independent then I worry about 10% as much as I used to about the Dims controlling us with their energy policies.
Rather than a EV car think about hydrogen powered BMW and others have made them feasible much cheaper in the long term.
