How about if some guy (or girl) is totally muscled up.

Looks able to beat or punch anyone.

Is that provocation?

Or if they are Mike Tyson?

Or if they are wearing a judo logo t-shirt?

A short step from this open carry ‘logic’.

Saying open carry is a legal provocation to attack is akin to saying the way a woman dresses is provocation to rape her.

That's how it is in islam.

A few comments...

Open carry is not cause to attack.

Open carry does however, as opposed to concealed, signal exactly where the good guys are and could make you a target for bad guys.

Open carry at a church implies he has permission from the church to do so on church property.

Open carry at a church may send mixed messages to new church members, but I guess the church can decide it’s policies. I carry concealed for my church security team. Our policy is no open carry. The property owner has the right to set that policy.

If I had my druther, I’d carry a rifle too, as it’s far more effective once the shooting has begun.

Last comment, the rifle needs a sling. It’s an essential.

I see what you’re trying to do there, stop it. If you go to church and if your church doesn’t have a security plan, then it’s time to find another place to worship.

How many churches have been a target rich environment for some evil bastard(s) in the past 20 years? Dean’s church would be a welcome respite on Sunday mornings considering what’s happening at what used to be the United States southern border and with all the government induced mental illness making it less safe every hour for any church in America.

“Apply this to the police. They almost always carry a deadly weapon, openly”

Not just there either.....every pawn shop and gun store I’ve ever been in, most if not all the employees open carry.......isn’t it funny how you seldom hear about robberies at either of those types of businesses.

First thing I noticed, too.

If shit goes sideways, who can be quickly identified as my biggest potential threat? The open carry guy. That is situational awareness 101. Plus so many of these people carry in a position that says “Hey look! Free gun.”

While my church usually has a police presence just because of the sheer size I ccw anyway.

My wife used to give me static about that until that nut job shotgunned all those people at a bible study in Charleston back in 2015......now when we’re in church she checks to make sure I AM carrying.

As far as open carry at church...it’s the church’s call I guess. Probly gonna scare some folk though....there’s been people leave my church just because the music is too loud.

So, the logic applies in Mogadishu and Minneapolis, but not in the rest of the US /semi-sarc

I should never say ‘last thing’. lol.

I am not sure from the fuzzy photo, but he may have a sling on it. If he does, he doesnt know how to wear it properly.

I could pick apart some other nits. He is not muzzle to Earth, nor is he muzzle to sky. He is just a bit too casual with his muzzle direction for my taste. Too easy to get distracted and be close to muzzling folks walking by.

He has a radio but will have to drop one hand or the other from the rifle to talk on it.

He does have his phone in good position to video any encounters, hopefully already video on, but how many of us have that much memory on our phones to video for 30+ minutes continuously?

As to some other comments on this thread, a crowded (church, mall, etc) setting has extra danger and, thus precautions associated with a shooting. A bad guys pulls a gun and starts shooting, a church security member draws to return fire, and one or more un-associated and uncoordinated concealed carriers draw and take some actions...this could turn out ok, or it could turn into a real tragedy of blue on blue.

Food for thought. Very few out there get to practice coordinated response to an active shooter, and even then, the plan is out the window once the bad guy has a say in it.

100% sure. It’s also why I (and none of my warrior friends) open carry. We also recognize that open carrying is an invitation from any terrorist or thug to take us out first.

Is having car insurance a provocation to cause vehicular damage?

Is having home insurance a provocation to torch you home?

There are those who say open carry is 'making a statement'.

I still think that statement is 'Shoot me first.'

It is to psychotic leftists who are easily “triggered,” but they are psychotics whose opinions should be disregarded.
