Russian tanks with Ukrainian flags moved in the direction of Molodetske on the outskirts of the village of Hrozove in the occupied Kherson region, and then fired on the houses of civilians.

Source: Operational Command "Pivden" (South)

Quote: "The tanks of the occupiers, flying Ukrainian flags, went to the outskirts of the village of Hrozove, Kherson region. This demonstration column moved in the direction of the village of Molodetske.

The enemy is trying to simulate the presence of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the occupied territories. And then, from the same tanks, they fire on the occupied settlements, giving the local residents a fake idea that the Ukrainian military is attacking civilians in the Kherson region."

Details: The leadership of the Operational Command "Pivden" ("South") emphasised that units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not fire on civilians and residential buildings behind which Russian invaders are hiding.

The statement explained that the Russians were trying to conduct psychological operations against the local residents to guarantee support for so-called "referendums" and attempts by the Russians to annex the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Hmmm… let me see if I got this right. They’re saying Russian tanks put Ukrainian flags on some tanks and fired on residential buildings that had Russian soldiers “hiding behind them”. They did this to convince local Ukrainians that the Ukrainian Army doesn’t care about them.

Sure, that sounds believable.

Not to mention that the Russia STATE-RUN news agency, Pravda, is ‘reporting’ this.

No, the ‘UA’ in the Internet address indicates it’s the Ukrainian Pravda (meaning ‘truth’). So this was the Ukrainian truth and not the Russian truth. 😸

Is Pravda the Russian’s mainstream media?

This is story is from the Ukrainian Pravda, which is not related to the Russian Pravda. Pravda, which means Truth in both Russian and Ukrainian, is a common name for newspapers in both countries. With many local and regional newspapers also using the name. This is similar to confusing the Times of London with either the New York Times or the Los Angeles Times.

Every time you see non-sense like this in media, you know that Ukraine is about to get caught on it.

Ukraine: military situation update with maps, April 24, 2022. Summary:

Key areas:
- Izyum bridgehead.

- Russian troops are slowly mopping up corner between Oskil and Siverskiy Donets rivers controlled by Ukrainian side before.

- Deep penetration into Ukrainian frontline between Velyka Novosilka and Gulyaypole at the village of Zelene Pole.

1. Kharkiv: positional fighting, heavy shelling by Russian troops. Confirmed attempt of Ukrainian forces to attack towards Ukrainian-Russian border towards crossing point Goptivaka/Zhuravlivka, Ukrainian troops took control of few villages in the grey zone when approached Russian controlled village Kozacha Lopan UA troops were repelled.

2. Izyum bridgehead: Russian 4TD and 3 mechanized division expanded bridgehead in the west to village of Velyka Komyshuvakha and in the south to village of Pashkove. It is extremely dangerous penetration by Russian troops that potentially could lead to large pocket for Ukrainian troops west of Donetsk. New reinforcement on the bridgehead - 106 Airborne Division.

There are no signs of 6TB/47TD that originally captured bridgehead. Russian 21 brigade now fights on the bridgehead as well, parts of 144ID are being pulled there as well. No expansion of bridgehead over these days.

****Example of heavy losses - Russian 252 Rgt from 3mD has 50-60 people in companies.****

3. Popasna, Rubizhne and Severodonetsk. Russian troops captured majority of Rubizhne. Popasna is about 70-80% captured by Russian troops. Russian mercenaries - Wagner Group operates in Popasna, also Russian 57 brigade operates there as well. Wagner mixed in with regular troops for more daring missions. Works well.

4. West of Donetsk: Avidyivka and Maryinka. Avdiyivaka - never ending attempts of the Russian side to break-through there. Maryinka is only 25% captured by Russian troops. Ukrainian side claims recapture of all of Maryinka, but we don’t have supporting evidence. No updates on the control of Maryinka.

5. Vugledar is in Ukrainian hands. Dangerous Russian attack on village of Velyka Novosilka to the east of Vugledar.

7. Deep Russian penetration towards village of Zelene Pole near Velyka Novosilka. Ukrainian strongholds are towns of Gulyaypole and Orikhiv, village of Velyka Novosilka. Russian 19D is operating there.

6. Mariupol: opportunity to do a breakout attempt by the Ukrainian forces might have been lost as density of Russian troops increased due to smaller perimeter.

8. Mykolayiv: positional fighting, shelling. 14th brigade arrived to the region. Russian troops also received reinforcement - part of 201 military camp - we estimate it’s a brigade size subunit. Probing attacks by Russian troops there.

Not saying whether it was true or not true, just trying to clear up the confusion over who was the source.

I haven’t read the Times of London for a very long time, so I don’t know what their current slant is. In any case, I wasn’t commenting on any reliability, just on the confusion over similarity in names of various sources.
