When Kosovo declared independence from Albania, the west fought for them and even went to war. Ukrainians in the Donbass do the same thing and it’s crickets from the west. They ignored the fact that 14,000 were killed in 8 years in eastern Ukraine, mostly civilians, as the Azov battalion and other nationalist militias were allowed to shell and shoot at them 24/7. America picks winners and losers rather discriminately, I’d say.
“When Kosovo declared independence from Albania, the west fought for them and even went to war.”
If you’ve read my posts you’d know that I opposed that action and criticized it, and roundly condemned the Clinton administration.
“Ukrainians in the Donbass do the same thing and it’s crickets from the west.”
No, they didn’t “chirp crickets.” They watched the development of the Maidan protests in Ukraine, and were alarmed when they grew increasingly violent in Kyiv on February 20, 2014. But what got the international organizations’ and other countries’ attention was Russia’s involvement. Remember, Russia invaded Crimea on February 20, 2014 through March 26, 2014. Let that sink in: Russia INVADED Crimea on February 20, 2014, the VERY DAY that the unrest grew ugly in Kyiv. So, Russia had planned to invade Crimea PRIOR to the worst unrest, because an invasion is not put together in a few hours. Moreover, the war in Donbas began in April, 2014, AFTER Russia had invaded Crimea. But, Russia sent in troops to support the “separatists, and in August, 2014 Russia increased its forces in Donbas. At this time the condemnation of Russia from the international community was very strong.
Russia has been stirring up crap in Ukraine for a decade, at least. And Russia’s excuses to justify this new invasion are laughable, and only the most gullible would accept them.
