Very accurate. I know of so many who have their kids in public school. But as long as they had their kids attend youth group and o on the short term mission trip, they felt their kids were “fine.” And they seemed “doing well” until they weren’t.
You can’t put your child into 45 hours of leftist religious centers Monday through Friday and combat it with one hour of attending church and expect strong belief in Christ to emerge.
HE sure does...
Any one you disagree with.
We had no loaves or fishes last Sunday, but we did serve coffee, cocoa, water, donut holes, and a REALLY damned good sermon!
That post is so funny.
“...they no longer have to tithe because the government gives people food stamps.”
Where’s the Chapter and Verse on that?
“First Congregational Church. Church of the Pilgrims.”
I recall back in the ‘60s and ‘70s, our Independent Baptist church did social activities with a nearby Congregational church. It was very fundamental, and the preacher had been in Bible College with my dad so we trusted it. Now, I’ve heard they’re woke.
“Preacher spoke in tongues and when he did, this meek little old woman suddenly jumped up and started running around waving a silky scarf.”
I still can’t handle when people in the congregation start waving their hands in the air during some hymns. Why do they DO that? It’s weird. Speaking in tongues ...? I’m outta there ASAP. My hubby said he dated a woman who was a “church fairy” (true title), who would wear diaphanous clothes on Sunday mornings and flit around the auditorium. LOL!
“They had a rock band and the preacher’s son played bass. The preacher’s daughter sang once and the song ended with this thin yet shapely 16 year old girl in a tight sundress moaning ‘I want to feel you’ over and over.”
Nope. Nuh uh. Again ... outta there. Drums on the platform? Outta there. When we P.K.s sang, it was from the hymnal.
“I just couldn’t understand what the preacher was saying. He had a real back woods MO accent and cried half the time he was up there.”
Again, preacher crying ... outta there. Since attending churches in TN, we’ve figured there are preachers who are snorters, gaspers, arm flailers, platform jumpers, and screamers. Outta there.
There are various degrees of Amen Corners. The most rowdy Amen Corners are so extreme that they are a major distraction from the message. Have heard a few, “boy howdy!” eruptions.
And there are SO MANY small local churches which actually are off-shoots from other area churches. Usually an extended family gets torked off and they all leave to form a separate church. Definitely clique-ish. It’s interesting to hear the history of some of them.
Some churches serve a ‘potluck’ while the pastor preaches the Gospel.
A few years back, my dad and brothers did a few days of motorcycle riding around the ozarks in NW Missouri. I couldn’t believe all the little tiny churches everywhere. I imagine them to be what you described.
Me, I can’t seem to find a place that believes in psalms and hymns and doesn’t have some weird membership requirements or has an “If it ain’t King James, it ain’t Bible!” Mentality.
Sad. Church we’re attending now, has a pretty good preacher, some nice folks, but are into modern “Christian” music. They didn’t even sing a single Easter song on Easter. That pissed me off, bad.
Why is it so hard to preach the gospel in love? Uphold the truth furiously, and defend the Truth?
We ARE living in a Genesis 19:9 world!
bingo
Matthew 24:5
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
May not mean what many think it means, according to my pastor who I would recommend to anyone reading this. His messages are powerful and all on YouTube. These church leaders are admitting that Christ is the messiah but then at the same time they are still deceiving. Describes far too many allegedly Christian pastors today and others even in the entertainment and political fields. Not my thought. It was preached in a message from my pastor, by the way, whose church is growing in libearal Massachusetts incredibly week by week.
The reached people will be those who already know they are disgusting.
yup!
true, this is happening in a LOT of areas, but also it is not.
That’s a plan!
9 hours a day?
You’ve got the whole church thimg wrong. Its not the pastors job to change anyones heart or mind. God chooses who to save, the pastor is to preach the whole gospel, not worry about offending someone.
