‘We Build the Wall’ fraudsters plead guilty in federal court

Two fraudsters who ripped off donors of a fundraising campaign that purportedly sought to collect money for a wall along the southern US border during Donald Trump’s presidency pleaded guilty Thursday for their roles in the scam.

The swindlers, Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato, each copped to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud during a remote hearing before Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan federal court.

Kolfage also pleaded guilty making false statements on tax returns to hide from the IRS the hundred of thousands of dollars he siphoned off from the GoFundMe campaign, which was dubbed “We Build the Wall.”

In brief remarks at the plea hearing, both Kolfage and Badolato told Torres they knowingly lied to donors, claiming they would not take any of the cash for personal gain, as the online campaign raked in millions of dollars.

“I knew what I was doing was wrong and a crime,” Kolfage said after saying he falsely told donors he would not take a salary from the campaign.

Brian Kolfage allegedly lied to the IRS about raking in approximately $350,000 in GoFundMe donations.

Badolato added they claimed they would not take money from the fund in order to “bolster the reputation and in turn generate more donations.”

“I’m terribly, terribly sorry for what I did,” he said.

The feds can convict anybody of anything.

Fight them and see what happens.

It’s pretty bad when I read something like this, pick out the garbage in the feds’ case immediately, and shake my head and mutter to myself, “What a load of cr@p”.

However, if they did promise to not take the money as income but did, they deserve to be convicted.

We'll get the real story some time in the future after they've escaped from the shadow of the evil klown prosecutors.

Remember, they were targeted for being associated with Trump. As I've said before, our Jesters System is populated with evil Jesters, and the "law" is in their mouths.

It seems there was a trophy wife involved so I expect we’re getting the cliffnotes version of where the money went. As I recall there was a ski boat involved but the Kolfage guy is missing too many parts to water ski much?

Yes, they’ve admitted to their scams. Too bad, I actually donated to them and trusted it was a legit endeavor.

Trump didn’t like their operation. It was a tiny amount of wall in a tricky area. They did it to make Trump look bad and Trump said they were showboating. Then they ended up ripping out the wall because it was improperly installed. Trump said it should have been built like the rest of his wall. If you say you’re not taking any money and then you take $450k. I don’t feel sorry for them.

Yes, they’ve admitted to their scams.

I'm old enough to remember partisan stooges in the DC District courts making Capitol protesters grovel for mercy while the joodge, fed persecutors and their own fricking counsel were spitting on them [while withholding the hours and hours of videotape showing Capitol police ushering them into the building].

Mark my words - the only reason the maggots haven't charged President Trump with felonies over January 6th is because of the third-world banana republic optics that would present to the world and half the voting public.

But they're slowly and steadily working on that little problem.

Your best bet as a citizen is you're on the wrong team is to steer clear of the Left's smash-mouth politics and their various vengeance machines.

Kolfage learned that lesson the hard way.

Now if you're on the RIGHT team - well, ask Lois Lerner and Andy McCabe what happens...

FLASHBACK:

Trump criticizes a Texas border wall segment that is said to be eroding, claiming that it was constructed to make him ‘look bad’

Trump on Sunday said in a tweet that he “disagreed” with the construction of this border wall portion by using a private contractor.

“I disagreed with doing this very small (tiny) section of wall, in a tricky area, by a private group which raised money by ads,” Trump tweeted. “It was only done to make me look bad, and perhsps [sic] it now doesn’t even work. Should have been built like rest of Wall, 500 plus miles.”

Sadly, hate seeing mention of 500 miles of wall for a 2,000 mile border. A big failure, especially now under thief Biden.

Mind you - I'm not saying anything you posted is incorrect.

I'm just saying that The Game has changed, and The Game is rigged - just like our "elections".

I was at The March For Justice in '98 - but there is no way on God's green earth that I would ever enter that jurisdiction again, knowing what I know now, and knowing how the game has changed.

For example, if you're following the current True The Vote revelations, wait till this summer when they ramp up the information dumps.

Sure as night follows day, Reichsfuhrer Garland and his Department of Jesters will come down on them like a ton of bricks.

The Detroit volunteers were watching the mail ballot drop boxes, as shown in the video yesterday.

The Democrats can't allow that kind of stuff to stand, and they'll make up "law" to stop it.

Kolfage has an extremely good looking wife. Anyone have a good picture of her who can post it?

They were targets because they were scamming folks, including some freepers, who wanted to help fund the wall project. I recall at one point gofundme demanded they offer refunds because their scheme for getting the wall built changed. At that point the effort began to smell suspect to me. Brian Kolfage had been all over conservative media and exploited his amputee veteran status for political prestige and fraudulent personal enrichment. This all happened when Trump was struggling to find funding for the wall.

They need to be locked up and any ill gotten gains returned to the donors.

[They] each copped to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud

This is one of the "tells" for a political prosecution.

Remember, they went after Dinesh D'Souza because he was being effective.

The Left's modus operandi is to get a conviction so they can sneer at people like this on social media and in the Brandon Media.

I can GUARANTEE you without looking that the usual blue-check suspects on the Twittsewer are celebrating this and tying it DIRECTLY to Trump.

I don't even have to look.

At that point the effort began to smell suspect to me.

Again, I won't disagree with anyone on this thread over their opinion about these guys.

I'm just saying that people like Lerner and McCabe walk because they're wearing the correct colored jerseys.

Re: "Remember, they went after Dinesh D'Souza because he was being effective."

I like D'Souza, and he has done important work for Conservatives and for the GOP.

Unfortunately, D'Souza also urged and enabled two of his friends to participate in a felony political contribution scheme.

My theory has always been that D'Souza was infatuated with the attractive female GOP candidate and was hoping to woo her.
