My experience is that the IRS negotiates the liability away rather than to prepare the case and appear in court.
You are speaking of agreed amounts due. I am speaking of disputed amounts.
IRS has to be watched like a hawk! I think I’ve heard they have farmed out a lot of return processing to private companies. Very dangerous. Good luck.
