With decades of teaching under my belt, I would say, with all the kids who passed through my portal, I had ONE child who was TRULY, TRULY gifted. One out of thousands.

The Democrats know that minority kids really hate school and don’t want to go to college. Colleges are the lefts life line. If minorities don’t apply for loans and tie themselves to forever debt, the left’s academic college scam dies.

Gifted children, and anyone who works in a school knows they exist, challenge the leftist notion of equality. It’s odd, really. The bell-shaped curve exists everywhere, except, according to them, when it comes to IQ. In fact they are very uncomfortable with the whole idea of IQ and intelligence in general.
Like Lake Woebegone all children are ‘above average’. The whole goal of the misbegotten ‘No Child Left Behind’ was to eliminate the notion that half of humanity is below average when it comes intelligence. I mean it’s just not fair!
So programs for gifted kids have to go.
Public schools across the country are eliminating gifted and talented programs, removing advanced courses and overhauling admissions processes to achieve equity across racial categories.
Our adult sons are 55 and 56, and the school system we have lived since they were in the 4th and 6th grade, deleted/killed/stopped funding the gifted programs after we voted for prop 13.
The left wing witch, who killed the gifted program in our schools went from school system to school system under the guise of an assistant principal and in charge of the gifted programs.
Usually in less than 2 years, she killed the gifted program in the school district where she was employed. All of those districts voted for prop 13. Then, she went to another school in a different district and killed their gifted programs.
Long past time.

Well, we all know that “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” because Joe Biden told us so.
It is not odd to fight against it because they are obsessed with equal outcomes, regardless of talent. Talented programs inherently produce unequal outcomes because they presuppose that we are not all the same.

And, then there are the parents who protest merit based admissions.
In the early fifties when I started first grade in a small school system in Oklahoma. Prior to starting first grade, all students took an aptitude test. There were two rooms/teachers for each grade through the sixth. The two teachers would get together, go through the test results, and divide the incoming students into two groups with the better scoring students in one group and the rest in the other group. Every year the two teachers would switch groups with the one having the better scoring one year would have the lower scoring the next. This allowed the teachers to tailor the pace and subjects to each group. Worked well for several years until the parents of the lesser group objected insisting that their child was just as smart as the rest and should be in the advanced group. The program was cancelled.
I know well of a Durham NC special high school established for the superior students. The enrollment is only 350 students. The work is academically at the community college level. As a matter of actual fact, students are bussed to a Community College for some classes not available on site. That includes some language classes.

The radical blue city states are obsolete and corrupt. Schools are where teachers draw salaries that are increased by the holding of a plastic master’s degree obtained by enrolling in the program
