“’I’m a Former Marine Training Ukrainians—”
As an old Navy guy, I have never heard a Marine refer to himself as a former Marine.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
It’s likely he worded it that way deliberately, to help keep readers from thinking he’s training Ukrainians as an active duty U.S. Marine.
