A liberal retired college professor in Orlando who wrote the book (literally) on Disney’s privileged position in Florida says this move is about time. In essence, he regards Disney’s special rights as an unfair advantage over competing theme parks. And, I must add, from what I know of how it was done originally, Disney and its local allies spread cash and favors about in return for the legislation.
In that case the liberal is right!
Disney’s situation is much worse than the normal corporate welfare situation. They are essentially an independent sovereign entity, independent of local and county control. That needs to end!
Good!
Well, Disney is advocating rolling back a bill protecting young children from groomers in the classroom. Their days of special status are over. JMO.
I remember two days in Disney World when I was 10. It was a great place. No creepy attendants, as far as I can remember. Just great rides, a lovely place, great places to eat, and of course, SPACE MOUNTAIN!
Of course, that was back in 1977.

It was Rush Limbaugh; he called it the “Limbaugh doctrine.”
...... BOOM!!!....

.
Yeah back in the 70s and 80s it was still Walt’s dream.
Now as we know it’s turned into something nefarious.
Cant happen the regulations for the ELECTORAL COLLEGE state the vp and the potus cannot be from the same state. So POTUS Trump appoints de Santis as Atty General and he cleans out the FBI,THE CIA and all the other congressional entities they created to cover there asses with. Congress must be forced to do what we elect them to do....BTW if the rumors are true about Pelosi retireing guess who her replacement will be LYING SCHIFF...
Here is something else to chew on THE REDDY CREEK IMPROVEMENT ACT that was created by a ex democrat turned republican in 1967 in the month of May, is unbelievable with the crapola they pull. The Ruddy Creek Energy Company sells Disney Electric, gas, and water. Got it they claim its a solar blah blah blah BS they actually but the utilities from a Company named EMIRA who has no loose contracts for electricity, gas, and water to 12 states, Canada, Chile, Bermuda with a 11.5% return on investment and assists of 34Billion dollars. So much for buy American.....
I have done the same. There were a few series on Netflix, some movies too. Signed up for one month, then cancelled. Obviously, many are doing the same to Netflix, Disney and the others. Disney started streaming before the Plandemic so got off to a good and early start. With it huge huge library, and all its content, I think Disney is the main streamer that is destroying Netflix. That this is what is killing the Netflix share price. Investors only see more of this.
Bill Ackman, huge hedge fund, saw his Netflix shares go down 30% or so. He dumped them all this week, 1.3 billion dollars worth. He probably bought Netflix early enough, so that he also profited
It’s fun to see CNN+ streaming getting destroyed. Their presumed audience stayed away in droves.
Companies like Netflix, Disney+, etc. need customers who subscribe for more than just one month. Fifteen bucks per customer for just one or two months will not sustain their business.
They need months and months and years from subscribers. They probably offer a discount for longer subscriptions but I stick to the monthly plan. That way, I can jump from one provider to the next each month when I have watched all of the movies and shows.
This is their achilles’ heel. Use them and move on — you’ll get the benefit of watching a movie or two or binge show and cancel.
BTW, we resubscribed with Netflix over the holidays and, as I mentioned, binged on the Breaking Bad series. Important point: Netflix had no new movies nor shows that we might be interested in the year and a half since we had canceled our subscription.
