As one who worked with federal prosecutors I can tell you that not getting a true bill from a grand jury is a major embarrassment.

Failing to get a conviction at trial is a death sentence for their career. Most US Assistant Attorneys have a 100% conviction rate because they get to pick and chose what cases they accept. If its not a slam dunk they just pass.

That's how they punch out into the private sector and make real money.

This attorney chose poorly.

Don't worry about him. The Left takes care of its own. If he doesn't do too well as a defense attorney, a nice law school professorship will be found for him.

Not getting a true bill from a grand jury means that the prosecutor didn't want one - it was just theater.

From memory - 97% of federal defendants plead guilty, almost always to a reduced charge.

I read one account of this trial that claimed there were 12 FBI agents or paid informants in the gang, but just six criminal defendants!
