In fact, these Republics were not seeking to separate from Ukraine, but to have a status of autonomy, guaranteeing them the use of the Russian language as an official language. For the first legislative act of the new government resulting from the overthrow of President Yanukovych, was the abolition, on February 23, 2014, of the Kivalov-Kolesnichenko law of 2012 that made Russian an official language. A bit like if putschists decided that French and Italian would no longer be official languages in Switzerland.

but to have status of autonomy, guaranteeing them the use of the Russian language So where are all the Ukrainians that are ethnic Russians welcoming the Russian invasion? Why are the Ukrainians of Russian ethnicity, who are 50% of the Ukrainian army ferociously fighting against the Russian invasion? Simple, the whole language issue was not a big deal for Ukrainians, but was the reason Putin started the Russian separatist movement in Ukraine with his little green men.

The Military Situation In The Ukraine Part One:The Road To War Article is a Russian fable. The Russian separatists in Ukraine came from Russia, were led by Russians from Russia, were armed by Russia, were funded by Russia and even had regular Russian military units enter Ukraine to fight against the Ukrainian army.
