California Democrats are delaying their vaccine plans. Here's why

California Democrats were moving toward requiring COVID-19 vaccines for students and keeping them from opting out of shots with personal belief exemptions.

But the California Department of Public Health on Thursday announced it was delaying Gov. Gavin Newsom's school COVID-19 vaccine mandate until next year. And Sen. Richard Pan, D-Sacramento, said he was holding Senate Bill 871, which would have closed the personal belief exemption loophole.

As the end of the current school year approaches, COVID-19 is no longer at the forefront of voters' minds, there's been a lag in federal approvals for children's vaccines and just more than one-third of young children have gotten shots to protect them from the virus.

The combination of factors left one vaccine advocacy group saddened, but not surprised.

"I think these are reasonable concerns from the governor's office and Dr. Pan," said Catherine Martin, executive director for the California Immunization Coalition. "The timing is tough."

The lack of full FDA approval prompted CDPH to say it will "not initiate the regulatory process for a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for the 2022-2023 school year."

Newsom's administration planned to phase in the mandate, starting with grades seven through 12, and followed by grades six through kindergarten. But the lack of full approval prompted the delay.

"As such, any vaccine requirements would not take effect until after full FDA approval and no sooner than July 1, 2023," the agency said.

Yeah, just until they can get past the elections. Dim spots don’t change.

...delaying the vaccine mandate...until next year. Or, rather, until after the upcoming primaries and election as they know they will lose on this issue.

Even the “glorious people who do glorious deeds for the glorious government” are fed up with the left’s science-illiterate pontifications and restrictions. Go ahead, California. We WANT you to have more silly COVID restrictions. However, we also WANT you to keep the silly DemocRAT voters, but allow the productive types (you know, those few that actually make things) to leave your sorry state and join us in making the nation great again. As for the rest, enjoy the Big One and don’t expect us to give a sh...er...give a Dorkbama.

“which would have closed the personal belief exemption loophole.”

So the Sac Bee considers a Constitutional right a loophole?

As cruel — and incompetent — as Newsom the Vile has been throughout this Fauci Flu Fiasco, I think that after being nearly offed by his booster shot a few months ago even he can’t bring himself to put very young children’s lives at serious risk no matter how much the teachers unions own him. Just a thought ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tractor_pulling

I am sure most here has at least heard of “tractor pulling” a contest where someone driving a tractor sees how far they can drag a heavy weight. Easy peasy you say until you know that as the tractor moves forward the weight is moved from the back to the front of the tractor until the tractor is no longer able to move.

This is the Democrat’s problem. They were able to do a lot in the beginning but the weight has been moving forward (and resistance is forming) so that if they don’t do it now, they will not be able to do it later.

Every policy and change the Democrats have made have been bad for our nation (and the world) as well as individuals.

As for more vaccine mandates the American people are waking up and discovering we have been lab rats for for medical experiments without our knowledge of risk nor giving any consent (using the full force of government to force people to get vaccinated is no voluntary).

I think you give Newsom more credit than he deserves. These types of people only care about power (who cares if he was temporarily smote with Bells Palsy ... or whatever he had). I think the delay is only due to the upcoming election - and agitating more people beforehand would just be bad optics. He doesn't care, and none of his cohorts in office care.
'Let the people eat cake' has always been their attitude (with apologies to Marie Antoinette, who I don't think actually used this phrase - and I think she actually cared for the people. But the commies had to lop her head off - so the narrative was cast in stone).

Good reasons for skepticism about the vaccines. They can hurt your, even kill you:

Wow. Lockdowns are to get people vaccinated and we all know the vaccinated can’t get, spread or die from COVID. </sarcasm>

It...is...not...a...vaccine. It was not before, nor is it after, the CDC changed its definition of a vaccine to fit its experimental drug. It is so Orwellian that we are even having to defend ourselves.

The government has NO right to force me to take a [highly] experimental drug. NONE.

100% correct. As I predicted the politicians declared the pandemic was over at the beginning of this year, because they saw the writing on the wall. There is no way in hell we are going back to a mask mandate or closures until the bell has tolled on election day in November. Even in blue CA and NY people are so DONE with the ridiculous rules that the backlash would be massive.
Of course the virus is still here, and the ineffective vax has done little to stop the spread. But the media has fallen into line with the marching orders, so you don’t see the death numbers splayed in bold on the front page anymore.
So much for “follow the numbers” and “science based” policy - what a crock!
