You can choose to disregard the history there if you want, that’s your issue.
But half of the world agrees with me, which is why the sanctions have failed. Would those countries be supporting Russia if the history wasn’t there - quite possibly not.
Disregarding history?
1994: Russia, Ukraine, USA sign Budapest Accession to the United Nations ratified Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. Ukes honor it by giving up nukes.
2012: Oil & gas reserves discovered in the region.
2014: Russia violates the treaty, invades & annexes Crimea when there’s a weak-kneed anti-American president at POTUS.
2016-2020: Russia quiet about Ukraine, no weak knees detected.
2021: Russia invades the rest of the country. Weak kneed democrap prez in charge again.
That’s the 40,000 foot view. If the Ukes had never given up those nukes they never woulda never been invaded. And we had better get nuclear nonproliferation right, or the world goes to hell in a handbasket.
