If Cali ever had any slaves, I’m pretty sure they were Native Americans enslaved by Spaniards-not black African people picking cotton and working in the kitchen of a plantation-and Cali wasn’t even a part of the US then-so who is supposed to get this welfare posing as reparations?
And Native Americans enslaved by Native Americans! The American Indians practiced slavery of other American Indians - tribal warfare captives and such. Sacajawae a Shoshone was a captive slave who was purchased by her French trapper husband. (Whether she was his slave or wife, there is still some debate!) when Lewis & Clark met her & hubby.

California was admitted to the Union in 1850, as a free state.
(So why should Californians pay anything more than they already have, which is their portion of the cost of the War between the States? If we inherit the sins of our fathers, do we also not inherit the blessings of our fathers?)
