Mentally ill mothers abusing their children are the cause. I am guessing that partially contributes to what is going on. However, that said I know of a family that had a son go through the procedure to become a "female" after high school. It was a $100K+ procedure covered by the fathers insurance. I briefly met the father and a younger son. They were a total mess.
