Hey here’s the message no one will agree with. He’s right. Everyone needs to pay at least something. A huge proportion of the population (and that includes the middle class) pays nothing. In fact, ridiculous amounts of people get “credits” which means they are net negative payers. This will kill him electorally, but everyone wants a pony, and everyone also wants the other guy to pay for it.

I’m middle class, and I just wrote a five digit check to the IRS on top of what they kept. We have a spending problem, and a dollar printing problem, not a taxation/confiscation problem.

Really? I beg to differ. While in a strict sense that may be a true statement, but in the “real world” it’s propaganda. The middle class (and the poor) pay the most evil tax and that is the destruction of their buying power through inflation. It is the spending of the middle class that is the backbone of our economy. Inflation, wage suppression though allowing an illegal underground economy of aliens, H1 visas, and a host of other destructive policies are the cruelest tax of all.
Let’s not even mention the self employed middle class who’s entire lives are entwined in their businesses and pay exorbitant taxes just for that privilege. So the middle class pays no taxes, bull.

Many here don’t appreciate facts and would rather their candidates tell them what they want to hear. Of course I would rather hear what programs specifically our candidates want to cut and why, vs much of this other nonsense about who is paying the taxes, we all pay them through higher prices of goods. It is clear with the debt constantly running up, we want the goodies without paying the freight. Many of us on all sides of the spectrum all believe others should be paying for government expenses. We have learned over the past 50 years, we cannot starve the beast, the beast just has the Fed print more money and pays the bills through inflation and by robbing our children.
My pay stub says I am paying.
