The anxiety remains, but in Ukraine’s capital, large lines of cars are now forming on highways into the city and businesses are reopening.
On Feb. 25, the day after Russia invaded Ukraine, Kolya Rybytva gathered his grandmother and younger sister and left Kyiv “quickly and without unnecessary sentiments,” he said, heading west. His parents and brother stayed behind to help in the war effort.
“The decision was made in minutes,” he said, “and it was one of the most difficult in life, but we all understood that war does not provide comfortable solutions.”
At the time, Mr. Rybytva, 24, understood that he might never return. But two weeks ago, he did, re-entering Kyiv, the capital, just as Ukrainian forces were starting to push Russian troops out of the suburbs and, eventually, into a full retreat. After a month of artillery attacks that ravaged buildings and had Kyiv residents seeking shelter in the subway stations, a sense of relative calm is being restored.

The investment of Kiev appeared to be strategic - preventing reinforcement of the greater part of the Ukrainian army stuck in the Donbass.
Idiots can't admit Putin blundered.
Everything is always All Part of Putin’s Plan.©️ No matter what happens.
Russia meant to lose 20,000 men and half its tanks.
Meanwhile, Ukraine keeps shelling itself just to make Russia look bad.
"Do you know why they use a 'Z' as the marker for the vehicles?"
"The other half of the Swastika was stolen"
Your Russian casualty estimates are even higher than the Ukraine Ministry of Defense. If you're gonna BS - BS big, I always say!

Yep, of the 120 BTGs they started with, they strategically lost 20-30 BTGs utterly destroyed in that feint. Along with 10-15 thousand troops. Very clever, those Russians!
;>)
So according to the NY Times, now all the subway lines are operating, buses are running, everyone has food, and we know electricity and cell phones never stopped working
Whatever happened to the MSM reporting that Russia was shelling Kiev into rubble?
Russia meant to lose all those generals and colonels too. How could anyone prevail against such a masterful strategy?
The destruction of the economy was nearly complete. The military vehicles were window dressing for the paralyzation of economy and leaving the Kyivans despondent and looking for some leadership. It was all according to the evil plan of the Russian overlord Dr. Faucski.
Maybe it was intentional. Clear out deadwood and incompetents before a bigger threat arises.
Russia is self sufficient in energy. More than self sufficient. Anything that requires energy to operate will continue to work, so no surprise there. Electric power, cell phones, subways, buses.. Food is a different matter. Prices have shot up and the average consumer is feeling the pain. And prices will continue to go up especially with reliance on Ukraine. The pain that Russians are now feeling in a big way is in consumer commodities that are either imported or manufactured in Russia under license. The ruble is holding because countries are still dependent on Russian oil and in some cases paying for it in rubles. But as countres begin to wean off Russian energy which could be many months or longer, it will start coming down again. The real cost of the sanctions will hit at some point.
Indeed how can anyone. Russia is all about chess. They get all their strategies from chess. In chess you can sacrifice ALL your pieces (except the king..or Putin in this case) and still come out on top if you are able to checkmate the opponent's king. Russia is willing to sacrifice a million plus soldiers ("pawns"), wreck their economy (which is already wrecking but they aren't full aware yet), become a total isolated basket case like N Korea -- IF -- in their minds they are able to checkmate their enemy.. which I guess is ..the "deNazification" of Ukraine ?
Except generals and colonels are not pawns. They are the more valuable pieces on the war chessboard, and you try not to lose them.
Yes but Putin doesn’t care. He will sacrifice bishops, knights, rooks.. everything, as long as he can claim “victory”.
You’ll be wearing the clown shoes soon enough.
