The special election in Texas’s Thirty-fourth Congressional District, slated to happen on June 14 to fill the vacant House seat left by U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela’s (D-TX) retirement, is rated as a “toss-up” by the Cook Political Report, meaning the race could go either to the Democrat or the Republican. The Cook Political Report rated the “toss-up,” noting that Vela’s retirement did not help the Democrats, especially since Democrat Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), who ditched his district, was hoping to slide into this congressional seat.

What’s in the tea leaves Texas??
Don’t automatically believe everything you read.
Toss up due to election fraud, no film at 11
“Toss up due to election fraud, no film at 11”
The district doesn’t have the high level of ‘diversity’ where the heavy cheating typically takes place, so it may well flip to Republican.
It went 61-38 for Obama in 2012, 59-37 for Clinton in 2016, but 51-47 for Biden in 2020. It might be trending Republican now.
The incumbent Vela has been steadily slipping since being elected: won 61.89% in 2012, 59.47 in 2014, 62.67 in 2016, 59.99 in 2018, and 55.44 in 2020.
Vela had the same opponent in 2016, 2018, and 2020 (Rey Gonzalez Jr) who stayed flat at 37.33, 40.01, and 41.85 respectively.
I'd say that toss-up might be generous towards Republicans, but this is a border district (Brownsville), so who knows how the immigration crisis is affecting the locals?
