To a journalism major, one who can win a tic-tac-toe game is an “expert”.

During my long career (I am now retired), I was a litigation analyst in the insurance industry. I worked on many products liability cases, wrongful death cases, contract cases, civil rights cases, you name it. Most of those cases involved experts and expert witnesses, on both sides. For every expert A, there was a counter Expert B. Always. So, opposing expert conclusions were pretty routine. Which side’s expert was right? Whichever one the jury believed.
