Everyone speaks Spanish, Basque, and rather poor English. Some speak French, rarely well.
This is a very civilized and comfortable part of the world. The worst thing about it is the weather, which is much like Seattle, especially today, sadly. The food is superb.
I suggest you visit and get much more laid back.
Can’t get more laid back than coastal NSW mate. Very wet at the moment here though. Basques are intriguing. Believe DNA is unique. Another interesting people are the Imazighen in north Africa
