DONALD Trump has admitted what the world has known for 17 months - that he didn’t win the 2020 US election.
While the 45th president still publicly challenges the result, he privately accepted it last July.
Talking to a panel of historians, Mr Trump said: ‘I didn’t win the election.’
The conversation was revealed by Julian Zelizer, Princeton professor and editor of the forthcoming book, The Presidency of Donald J Trump: A First Historical Assessment.
He wrote in The Atlantic magazine: ‘Even in his attempt to correct the record, Trump mostly didn’t acknowledge or engage with informed outside criticisms of his presidency.’
But the author added: ‘At one point he said, “When I didn’t win the election” - phrasing at odds with his false claim that the 2020 vote was stolen.’
Even last week, Mr Trump, a former reality TV star, told a rally in Michigan: ‘The presidential election was rigged and stolen... We won by a lot, not just a little.’
His comments to Professor Zelizer came eight months after the vote and six months after the riot at the Capitol by supporters looking to overturn the result.
Yesterday it emerged that his daughter, Ivanka, testified on Tuesday to the congressional committee investigating the siege on January 6 last year.
There was not over 150 million LEGAL votes cast in that election. They cheated and if not then let’s look at the ballots. Throw out the illegal ones and let’s see who won.

It looks like if Trump runs in 24, he wants to base his campaign strategy on Biden’s failures, not on being cheated in 2020. I think it’s a smart move that will resonate with the suburban purple voters that he’ll need to win (many of whom voted for Biden and now regret it).

Yep, total “fake news” story. For Trump to say, “I didn’t win” is to state the obvious. That the walking corpse known as “Joseph R. Biden” was the declared winner and now occupies the office of POTUS isn’t in dispute. What’s in dispute is whether tens of thousands of votes counted for Biden were legitimate votes, and there’s ample evidence that they were not.
That point is lost on the Daily Mail.
The US legal system says the election was stolen fair and square.
No significant improprieties. Not one.
Except he never said that.

When has The Atlantic ever said anything true about President Trump?

Next time have decent legal representation in the states where there were issues. The Trump team seemed to think that they could use Federal jurisdiction to challenge the results. By the time they got their act together, they had lost several cases in key states.
His lawyers acted like clowns.
