I think they give “grants’, scholarships in all but name. I know someone from my little WV hometown who went to Yale to play football. He had to have some sort of financial help to go there. His family could not have aforded the tuition R&B without help, somebody paid for it! He certainly wasn’t a great scholar but a good football player.
