Americans are not paragons of virtue. Neither are Israelis, Ukrainians, nor anyone. Realizing one’s own capacity for committing evil acts, and a faith in G-d, are the only insurance policy that one has against committing inhuman acts when the chips are down. Russians, however, have a long history of barbarism. So do Ukrainians, for that matter, but they have in past years shown signs of moral growth. This is not Bogdan Chmelnicki’s marauding Kossacks.

The headline of this article is about the emotional reaction of Zelensky. As a rule, I tend to be somewhat skeptical about media stories related to the supposed emotional reactions of politicians. However, I will never believe media stories about the claimed emotional reactions of professional actors, which of course Zelensky is. This is an internal conflict between countries of the former Soviet Union who are now establishing their borders. Although the media and elites are working to fool the American public into thinking this petty conflict is worth risking a nuclear war, this conflict is not worth one drop of American blood or one penny of American treasure. It’s not our fight.
