I had a friend from Germany that was a war bride. Poor woman had lived 25 years, had 5 kids, and all that time had no contact with her family in East Germany. The day the wall came down she was crying and crying, both sadness and joy. Was making plans on how to contact her family. I moved away and lost contact with her but I hope it went well with her.
