I simply googled “is Harvard D1 Swimming?”
The first line in the first entry says “Harvard University does offer athletic scholarships for swimming….”
And just now it dawned on me that a father of a fellow high school student of my son’s won a lifetime athletic achievement award at our sons’ school. On his plaque it mentions that he was a four year athletic scholarship award winner at Harvard.
I read your post and it says no academic or athletic scholarships. But I found and know other data that is opposite of what you posted.
I don’t have the time to dive deeper. It would be good to have the right answer.
Odd that something that simple would be that difficult to get a consensus on.
The parents of the poor girls in Connecticut should have stopped this years ago against the two black boys ("Andrea Yearwood") when they first made a mockery of the girl's track events.
“Disappointed” that his slick way to cheat fell through.
I can’t argue about what was written on the plaque - but I do know that Harvard, and all other Ivy League schools, do not give out athletic scholarships.
Now it is possible for a student to get a scholarship, athletic or otherwise, from a third party. However those don’t usually tend to be full, four year scholarships.
eeehem.... Cue*
My understanding is that all Harvard (and most Ivy) students are eligible for. extensive financial aid. BUY they are only what is called ‘grant-in-aid’ which means based on financial need. The objective is to graduate with little to no debt.
However, first you have to get in. Coaches can get athletes in on special admits but still only grant in aid. How they decide grant size bis likely based on FAFSA but I suppose they can do whatever they want.
I suppose the athletes can take advantage of the NCAA rules on NIL income so there are ways to supplement. For the sake of this discussion however, I expect that a Harvard. would likely not reduce the grant size for someone who quits the teAM. Happy for anyone to chime in as well on this
That should have been done with the swim team
A bridge too far. About time.
People with mental disorders are being treated as though they’re normal while actual normal people are being treated as though they have mental disorders. Upside down, backward and sideways.
What’s the matter ladies? I thought you all were cool with that?
Stiffed again. Some of these decisions are are harder than others.
Male losers that can’t win against other men.
Women boycotting this crap is exactly how you will stop the nonsense. Would not be much of an event if the women don’t show up at all. It remains to be seen how many women will have enough guts to do this. I am betting not that many but I hope that I am wrong. People are such cowards nowadays.
