It is particularly dishonest to use the case of a mass shooting to advance the cause of various measures that were already in place at said mass shooting and which did absolutely nothing to stop it, and may even have encouraged it by making the target location softer by disarming attendees.

How about criminal control? Lock up criminals who use guns, and keep them locked up for long sentences. Spend taxpayer money to build and staff more prisons.
