The SPD leadership also wants to discuss a possible solution for the controversial vaccination obligation at its closed meeting which began today. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) wrote today on Twitter after the start of the retreat, "among other things, compromises on the general vaccination obligation with the other democratic parties in the Bundestag are being worked on."

I guess they have real problems to argue about/deal with now. There is a wholesale rollback of COVID restrictions happening in Germany now, even as cases are high.
A Russian gas cutoff, is a real imminent threat.
They don’t want to upset the population any more so they will tread carefully on forced vaccination but make the move if they calculate it can be done.
