Thing is, there is no public clamoring for this sort of mutilation. No grand movement of people filling the streets in protest. No huge marches, no one making a pivotal speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial - "I have a dream....that boys will be girls and girls will be boys..." Not a grand issue "of our time" that must be instigated into society and tolerated. It's the result of a two fold problem, coming down to apathy and cowardice. An apathetic public not exercising their civic duties and enforcing the social contract that exists between them and established institutions and cowardice within those same institutions by administrators who have betrayed the public trust by folding and not standing up against the chaos, even joining in with it. The public still has the power, they have to awaken and use it.
