“Yet, somehow, the Russians have wiped out the entire Ukrainian air force and navy and just won the most consequential battle to date in Mariupol, the stronghold of the neo-Nazi Azov bastards, the remains of which are holed up in a steel mill waiting to die.
Meanwhile, 60,000 Ukrainian troops are stranded in Donbass, encircled with nowhere to go.”
Word
Encircled?!?! Tovarich, you really need to learn how to read a map.
I’m guessing 8 out of 10 participants in this discussion are professional propagandists for one side or the other.
I’ll sit and wait this out.
IRL, the Germans were out of gas before they started.
There was no way to resupply more than a tiny fraction of the committed force all the way to the Meuse.
It was a stupid attack that never had a chance of success, no matter if they had achieved all their initial tactical objectives.
The “Red Army’? LOL... that’s some journalism there. It hasn’t been called that officially since 1946. It hasn’t been called that colloquially since 1991.
I, for one, am a professional international man of mystery (retired).
The media is a real mess isn’t it?
Vodka is made in Russia
True, true, and true. However, what is it in the hearts of the Russian leadership? They were all made men in the Soviet days.
Hilarious!
Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division - Presidential Unit Citation
Soros is really getting his money’s worth with the nonsense spewing out.
I have 5,000 or so rounds of 7.62X39 Russian made.
They work good. Better than the Chi-Com stuff.
Chi-Com stuff is corrosive and dates to Vietnam war.
I’m an active professional with lots of experience and I’m calling out the BS where I see it. Rely on those who are involved in things. They know best.
One of the worst WWII movies IMHO. How they could take such a compelling story and bungle the movie is beyond me.
“I don’t think I’ve ever physically seen anything made in Russia in my life, except for a set of babushka dolls.”
There were some light tractors made in the USSR that were sold over here. They were called the Belarus, and were made in Minsk.
This would explain why Putin has not ordered massive air bombardments.
Not really. Most of their leaders today were in their 20s, or maybe 30 back then. Junior officers including Putin.
And all of them grew up in the stagnant 70s and 80s in that “Irony of Fate” era. There is not a committed communist in the lot.
In their hearts is probably mostly a fear of the depression of the 1990s returning and a sickened acceptance that nothing will cause the west to ever treat them as anything but an enemy, so they might as well think only of their safety.
It’s pretty depressing actually.
Oh, they make a lot of stuff. Cars, tanks, tractors, machine tools, fighter jets, airliners, ICBMs.....But none of it is good enough to sell outside the Russian Empire, which is why you don't ever see it. Except when they invade someplace.
Ukraine does have some manufacturinng. They're making their own combat rifles, for instance. And the giant six-engine cargo plane that the Russkies burned in the first couple of days was built in Ukraine. So it's entirely plausible that the Russians were sourcing parts in there.
