Russian soldiers in Ukraine are refusing to follow orders, sabotaging their equipment and accidentally shooting down their own aircraft, one of Britain's top spies will claim.
The shocking revelations paint a picture of a shambolic invasion which has seen Vladimir Putin's forces get bogged down by staunch resistance.
Sir Jeremy Fleming, the head of the signals intelligence agency GCHQ, said Putin has "massively misjudged" the situation in Ukraine and his cyber warriors could now look to attack countries who oppose Russia.
In a rare address, taking place in Australia, Sir Jeremy said: "We've seen Russian soldiers - short of weapons and morale - refusing to carry out orders, sabotaging their own equipment and even accidentally shooting down their own aircraft.
"And even though we believe Putin's advisers are afraid to tell him the truth, what's going on and the extent of these misjudgements must be crystal clear to the regime.

The Germans are eating their dead!
Ian’s nephew?
Was that before or after Ukrainian Troops Fired a Tochka-U Missile on Lugansk - after the peace negotiations?
Wasn’t Christopher Steele another “top British spy?” 🤣
Ian wrote better fiction.
Russian military never breaks...unless used.
Russian military is a model for failure.
Wtf. Not sure if I can believe any of this. It all sounds like war propaganda. When the war is over, we will know more what happened.
Everything is going as planned, comrades.
This is just a military training exercise.
All is well.
Don’t believe it.
I doubt it. But from 1956 to 1965, the head of MI5 was a Russian spy.
Sounds like a script for a poorly dubbed combat satire movie.
Western war propaganda has been childishly over the top.
LOL! Does anybody actually believe any of this crap?
Well it does seem something is going on seeing the RF had not encircled key cities and is giving up various towns in some areas.
So I would not be LOL as you are.
This could be true, or it could all be BS propaganda.
The only thing I can see for certain is that in 5 weeks a country the size of Russia has still not managed to completely overrun a country the size of Ukraine. And Russia has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world!
Something ain’t right about that.
I don’t believe Putin was ever trying to take all of Ukraine or had any plan to do so. IMO, the drive on Kiev was not a feint but it was designed to suck in all of Ukraine’s reserves so that the bulk of their professional army which is massed along the Donbas and which was set to launch an attack on Luhansk and Donetsk in a couple months could not be reinforced. That army is in the process of being cut off by the Russians. If it is destroyed, the entire eastern half of Ukraine will be wide open and Putin may demand a lot more than he would demand if they cut a deal now.
We know a little about Britain's top spies don't we.
Along that time England had a multitude of Soviet spies in the Intelligence services.
In addition to Director Hollis there was the Cambridge Five; Kim Philby, Guy Burgess, Anthony Blunt, Donald Maclean and John Cairncross.
I have been seeing the same thing, now seeing Russian solders switching side and defending Ukraine.
