Ukrainian troops in Mariupol are taking ammunition off of Russian troops and smuggling in weapons to resupply and hold out against the Russian assault.
Western officials in a briefing to reporters Tuesday said there is evidence of Ukrainian troops in Mariupol smuggling weapons into encircled areas for reinforcement as additional Russian troops close in.
"Ukrainian forces, though remarkably adept at smuggling weapons into areas which are encircled, they are also largely being able to resupply their fighters by taking weapons, ammunition, off Russian soldiers in the city itself," Western officials told reporters in a briefing.

Common enough occurrence in WWII. They both use much of the same equipment, and the Russians are exactly punctilious about removing their dead or broken equipment.

Except Mariupol is mostly cleansed from the Ukrainian forces, a few left are entrenched at the steel plant.

This is the tip of the iceberg. Now that the Putinists have retreated there will be a lot of war crimes uncovered in the Kyiv suburbs. Invading Russian armies have raped and pillaged their smaller neighbors for hundreds of years.
LOL Maybe they’re just looters and murderers.
Hopefully we will see war crime trials.
In Mariupol the defenders still have the 56th Motorized Brigade, the 36th Naval Infantry Brigade, the 12th Operation Brigade and the Azov Battalion defending various sectors of the city, and all continuing to operate with coherent unit command and control.
Based on the attacking forces thus far brought against them, the defenders can hold out for weeks more if they so decide.

And the Chechens are now fighting with each other in Mariupol because of grudges unrelated to their assignment in Ukraine. Settled old grudges and scores. LOL!

You cheer on both Soviets and Chechens? Wow.
My guess is there are quite a few hiding out in all those nearly vacant buildings as well as using underground passages and the sewers to move around. They know the local area far better than the Russians. Unless the Russians commit enough troops to clear and hold the city section by section, guerilla activity will continue indefinitely.
