I visited Cannon Air Force Base in 1978 when they had F-111. I grew up next to an airport and we even had a B-52 that was a test bed for the Pratt & Whitney jt9d engine in I got to admit, those F-111 were the loudest thing I ever heard of my life, louder than a 707 louder than a 747 and louder than that B-52.
