Colleges are closed social environments run by their administrations. When surveys of students find "incorrect" opinions, those opinions have "corrections" built in when course curriculum are revised. These surveys became excuses for what the administration wanted to do regardless of the response. I knew this 20 years ago and this has been going on long before then.
