I’m guessing those working Border Patrol continue because they are too close to retiring with benefits, or they have little savings and even less job prospects in the short term.
I can tell you that morale is extremely low and most are extremely frustrated. Quiting does nothing because that is what they want, they want to destroy the Border Patrol and yes the pay and retirement are not something that can be easily replaced.
I can tell that it is not physically possible for the Patrol to deal with a mass migration situation that they are talking about. We simple could not do paperwork fast enough, we struggle to get deal with title 42 which only requires a small amount of work. I don’t know what the plan is but the only guess that I have is that they just plan on releasing people without any paperwork.
